New Sign on the Greenway

So proud to install the first of three informational signs on the greenway. Lots and lots of work went into  the design. Special thanks to designer Lee Seabrook; historian Brotherhug Barlow; and many other folks who provided expertise and editing! Funding for the signs was provided by Buncombe County and members of the FOHCG.

This sign is located at Cornbread Junction in the picnic area. Look for two others to be installed in the next week.

Join us for a picnic on the Hominy Creek Greenway:
When: Friday May 19 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. 

Where: Cornbread Junction near the Sand Hill Road trailhead.

What: Celebrate the Hominy Creek Greenway with members of the FOHCG Inc. Board of Trustees and members of the community. 

BYO beverage and BYO chair. We’ll provide the grillables and sides.

A great work day on the greenway

We had a stellar turnout on the greenway on February 18, 2017 to continue our plan to remove and replace invasive plants. About 15 volunteers helped remove tangles of multiflora rose and other plants from an area adjacent to the new storage shed. The removal opened up a small portion of an old stone wall and may help improve the health of a couple of trees weighed down by the invasive plants.

This year, the FOHCG will be conducting regular monthly workdays. More dates to be named soon.
